Celo logo Celo - CELO

The aim of the project is to use the blockchain infrastructure for easy mobile payments and thus enable greater financial inclusion of people outside the traditional Western financial system. The second goal is to radically reduce the cost of cross-border transfers of funds. So actually a completely standard fintech target. The platform is based on a public blockchain (derived from Etherea), which uses proof-of-stake as a consensus mechanism and, as part of its incentives, Celo Gold (cGold) tokens, which serve mainly as a reserve currency and staking tool, and Celo Dollar (cUSD). , which features a classic dollar - anchored stablecoin with an elastic supply. Both are technically de facto common ERC-20 tokens and are interchangeable. The project itself, like Ethereum, looks mainly like a platform for running financial applications based on a virtual machine and the use of smart contracts.

How to stake Celo?

In Celo's Validator Elections, holders of the native asset, CELO, may participate and earn rewards for doing so. Accounts do not make votes for validators directly, but instead vote for validator groups. Before they can vote, holders of CELO move balances into the Locked Gold smart contract. Locked Gold can be used concurrently for: placing votes in Validator Elections, maintaining a stake to satisfy the requirements of registering as a validator or validator group, and also voting in on-chain Governance proposals. This means that validators and groups can vote and earn rewards with their stake.
